Rev. Roy Burley

Roy is one of the team that has been formed by the Chair of District to assist with ministry at Elm Ridge until 1st September 2025.

I have had two Circuit appointments, the Orrell and Lamberhead Green Circuit (just outside Wigan), and the North Lancashire Circuit based around Lancaster. For the bulk of my ministry I was an army chaplain for 16 years, with a number of different regiments, in numerous locations, we moved every two years.

I have been deployed on Operations in Iraq, Cyprus and Afghanistan, in support of soldiers, especially when one of their number dies on that Operation. I have been married to Gladys for 34 years, and in that time we have moved 14 times. In 2023 I became a Supernumerary, and we chose to live in Norton, to be close to family.
